Native
Native New Yorker June Guralnick began her career at LaGuardia High School of
Music and Art in New York City. Originally trained as an actress and dancer,
June received her B.A. in Theatre from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo and her Masters in
Theatre from City College of New York (1986). June subsequently served as
Artistic Director of the Women's Ensemble Theatre and taught at St. John’s
University, John Jay College and the Henry Street Settlement Arts for Living
Program (NYC). Appointed as National Endowment for the Arts Theatre Fellows
(1991), June also was a North Carolina Visiting Theatre Artist from 1988-1991
and a Theatre Artist-in-Residence from 1997-1992. Complementing her career as an
artist, June has been employed in various arts leadership positions, including
Executive Director of the Theatre Association of Pennsylvania, CEO of the
Cultural Activities Center (TX), Theatre Arts Director of the North Carolina
Arts Council, Executive Director of the new 1500-seat performing arts facility,
The Centre @ HCC, Project Director for interstate arts endeavor
Dreams-of-Flight, and most recently appointed Executive Director of the Raleigh
Arts Commission. June, for the past twenty-five years, has created new works for
the American theatre and collaborated with diverse communities to develop
innovative cultural projects.
